be more cat \ the art of unapologetic pausing
Nobody has ever looked at a cat and thought, that creature needs to be more productive.
Nobody has ever said, the cat is wasting its potential.
The cat sleeps in a patch of sunlight for four hours.
And nobody judges it.
The cat stretches before doing anything.
Not because it's preparing for something important.
Because stretching feels good.
And feeling good is important enough.
The cat sits in the window and watches the rain.
Not to pass the time.
Because the rain is worth watching.
The cat pauses mid-step.
For no reason at all.
Simply... stays there.
Present. Unhurried. Unapologetic.
We have a word for this in humans.
We call it doing nothing.
We say it with a slight guilt.
As though resting were something that needed to be earned.
The cat has never earned its rest.
It simply takes it.
With the quiet confidence of a creature
that has never once questioned whether it deserves to exist beautifully.
So here is a small, possibly radical suggestion.
Be more cat.
Not all the time.
Just for a moment.
Be a little bit selfish.
In the way that cats are selfish.
Which is to say, not selfish at all.
Just... honest.
